A Just Feeling
"A Just Feeling"
Let us not look east and west for materials of conversation, but rest in presence and unity.
A JUST (based on or behaving according to what is morally right and fair) FEELING (an emotional state or reaction) will fast enough supply FUEL(a thing that sustains or inflames passion, argument, or other emotion or activity) for DISCOURSE (written or spoken communication or debate) if speaking be more grateful than silence.
When people come to see us, we foolishly prattle, lest we be hospitable. But things said for conversation are chalk eggs. ~Ralph Waldo Emerson
Chalk eggs: Emerson growing weary at the notion of making small talk, when 'A Just Feeling' can power up a more meaningful exchange of views. This is how someone summed up the meaning of chalk eggs. I feel the same but the bible says:
Let your conversation be always full of GRACE
seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone. ~Colossians 4:6
In Paul's time salt was used as a preservative as well as a season.
For me this means knowing when to preserve (protect) (keep safe) a conversation so that you are not deemed too "salty" (aggressive) but you know when salt is needed.
Discernment (the ability to judge well) is key here!
Discernment in conversation is something
that the Lord is helping me with when I asked him to fill up what is lacking in me.
Southern girls know the importance of SALT!! lol
